​WHAT IS THE SNO JAM COMEDY FESTIVAL ALL ABOUT?

 

Sno Jam Comedy Festival is a 501c3 nonprofit annual fundraising comedy festival that takes place in Sioux Falls, SD, during the winter months, more specifically January 18-21, 2024. It celebrates both the cold winter and comedy while raising money for local non-profit organizations. The event features comedians from around the globe getting together to have a great time in the snow, network, and showcase their talent all while supporting a good cause.

WHERE IS SOUTH DAKOTA?

 

Somewhere in the middle known as America’s heartland & just south of North Dakota.

 

​A COMEDY FESTIVAL DURING THE WINTER, WHAT’S FUNNY ABOUT THAT?

 

​EVERYTHING! What’s a better way to celebrate wintertime in South Dakota than to stay inside to watch comedy? In a South Dakota winter, we all need to laugh!

 

​HOW COLD WILL IT BE AND HOW MUCH SNOW WILL THERE BE?

 

​Colder than a witch's tit! It really depends on how mild or severe the winter decides to be. With wind chill factors it can get way below zero and during blizzard conditions, we can get several feet of snow.

 

​WHO SHOULD SUBMIT TO SNO JAM?

 

​Comedians of all levels should submit to Sno Jam. We’re looking for a wide variety of talent from working professionals to new comics hot on the scene. Submissions are open to all comedians over the age of 18. 

 

HOW DO I SUBMIT TO SNO JAM & HOW ARE SELECTIONS DECIDED?

 

Submitting to Sno Jam Comedy Festival is simple; click submit on www.snojamcomedyfest.com/submit, and follow the submission form instructions.

 

​Selections are determined by our Selection Committee made up of members of the Sno Jam comedy festival team, all of whom are working comedians. Every video will be screened, and we look at stage presence, originality, and overall humor.

 

WHAT ARE THE VIDEO REQUIREMENTS FOR SNO JAM?

 

Please submit a working 3-5-minute video link hosted on Youtube or Vimeo of ORIGINAL material from one consistent set (NO BEST OF CLIPS). Please make sure that your video is public or unlisted. If we can’t access your video, we can’t watch it, and unfortunately, with hundreds of submissions to screen we do not have time to ask for another clip, so your video will be disqualified. Make sure that we can SEE & HEAR you clearly in the clip. We want to know what you and your comedy are all about and if we can’t see or hear you we can’t accomplish this.

 

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO SUBMIT TO SNO JAM?

 

​It costs Twenty American Dollars ($20 USD) to submit a show or to be considered to perform at Sno Jam and that’s it. That’s right, the fees do not go up as the deadline for submissions gets closer.

 

WHEN DO THE SUBMISSIONS FOR SNO JAM CLOSE?

 

Submissions for Sno Jam close on November 15th, 2023 11:59 PM CST.

 

​WHEN ARE SNO JAM SELECTIONS ANNOUNCED?

 

​Selections for Sno Jam 2024 will be announced on or before December 15th, 2023.

 

​WHAT ARE MY CHANCES OF BEING SELECTED TO PARTICIPATE IN SNO JAM?

 

​30 comedians are selected to perform at Sno Jam, but the chances of participation depend highly on the total number of eligible submissions we receive and the quality of the talent pool.

 

IF SELECTED TO PERFORM AT SNO JAM, HOW MANY SHOWCASES WILL I GET, AND HOW MUCH TIME?

 

​Each comic will get at least one showcase (most likely two showcases). Depending on the number of comedians on the showcases, comics will be doing 7-10 minutes each.

 

DO I GET TO CHOOSE WHEN I PERFORM AT SNO JAM?

 

Not exactly. You will get to give us your preferences and we will do our best to accommodate your schedule.

 

WILL THERE BE ANY INDUSTRY AT THE FESTIVAL?

 

We try to get the industry to attend and as much as we’d like to say yes, we can’t make any promises. Most likely there will be some regional industry.

 

DOES SNO JAM PROVIDE LODGING?

 

​YES, Sno Jam provides lodging for all selected comedians and only for the selected comedians. The rooms will be shared, therefore lodging is for performing comedians only. So, if you’re bringing friends, family, and/or significant others you will have to provide your own lodging at your own expense.

 

​DOES SNO JAM PROVIDE TRAVEL EXPENSES?

 

​No, all performers are responsible for their own travel expenses.

 

DOES SNO JAM PROVIDE FOOD & DRINKS TO THE COMEDIANS?

 

​Sometimes. Sno Jam does its best to provide some food and drinks at the shows. This all is dependent on our partnerships with our sponsors and venues.

 

​​IS SNO JAM A COMEDY CONTEST?

 

No, it’s a kick a** comedy fundraiser that promotes camaraderie and not competition.

 

​IF SNO JAM ISN'T A COMEDY CONTEST, WHAT'S IN IT FOR ME?

 

​Well, there are several things. First, you will have the chance to network with other comedians from across the country. Second, you will get to expand your market as you will be performing in multiple shows for new audiences (our past shows have been standing-room only). Third, you get that warm fuzzy feeling of helping raise money for a great cause. I could keep going, but I think by now you get the point!

 

DO COMEDIANS GET PAID FOR PERFORMING AT SNO JAM?

​

​No, however, we do book celebrity headliners that are paid. These spots are decided by our board of directors and are very limited, so please don’t contact us about these spots unless you are an agent with a roster of celebrity headliners.

 

​IF I’M NOT SELECTED TO PERFORM AT SNO JAM CAN I GET A REFUND?

 

​Sorry, all submission fees are nonrefundable, and keep in mind it’s going to a good cause.

 

DOES MY FESTIVAL PASS GRANT ME ACCESS TO ALL SNO JAM SHOWS?

 

If there is room, then yes. Ticket holders will always have seating priority.
