SJCF Presents Intro To Sketch Writing with Dylan Oakes Rohde. Do you struggle with coming up with ideas, how to focus them, finding a good "button," or even just basic structure? We'll cover everything you need to start writing your own sketches. We will also work on techniques to get you started and how to get past writing blocks, budgets, or fighting with others that can often ruin a good idea. Everyone will leave with at least one good sketch idea that is theirs to create.

About Dylan

Dylan is the Founder/Director of The Backline Comedy Theatre and the Omaha Comedy Fest. Alum of both Upright Citizens Brigade and iO West in Los Angeles where he was featured in a number of videos on FunnyOrDie.  

Dylan has been trained by sketch legends like Kids in the Hall Kevin McDonald, UCB's Ian Roberts and Matt Walsh, Key & Peele and MadTV's Colton Dunn, Amber Ruffin from The Amber Ruffin Show, Katie Dippold from MadTV and Parks and Rec, plus dozens of other great improv and sketch coaches.   

He has taught at a number of festivals, theaters, and countries around the world, including HUGE Theater in Minneapolis, Kansas City Improv Festival, Improvention in Australia, The Improv Shop in St. Louis, The Crossroads Comedy Festival in Indianapolis, Tampa Bay Improv Festival, Philly Improv Theatre, plus a number of others and has performed in festivals like The Del Close Marathon in NYC and the 24-Hour Festival at Second City L.A.
